At Harvel Greens, we believe there is a better way to produce the food we eat. A more sustainable way to produce ‘safe food’ without damaging our ecological footprint. We’re obsessively passionate about it.
Our mission is to help people eat clean, safe & sustainable food. We focus on Protected Cultivation. It’s one of the least understood methods of agriculture, and we see that as an opportunity.
The food you eat can either be the safest and most powerful form of medicine or the slowest form of poison” – Ann Wigmore
Who We Are
We are a startup within an established company focused on the development and implementation of greenhouses. We enable enhancing farming operations with use of science and technology to enable high- yield process of farming and produce high quality agricultural products.
Our Story
Harvel Greens was founded by Neha Oswal in 2017. It started with two goals in mind. One was to give people fresh, clean & chemical-free produce through high-tech greenhouse farming and the other was to empower growers setup high-tech greenhouse solutions that are viable and profitable ventures.
Neha is an Architect by qualification, mother of two and has a massive drive of putting clean, safe & sustainable food on every table by bringing a change in the agricultural industry.
The problem we are trying to solve
With global population set to increase to 10 billion people by 2050, the challenge of providing enough food for everyone in a sustainable, efficient and cost effective way is rising in significance. By overcoming the restrictions of seasonal weather issues, transportation challenges and significantly enhancing yield the growing trend of high-tech protected cultivation is the future of food production.
For 1000s of years human population has farmed the land for food. With a sharp rise in the number of people on our planet over recent centuries the pressure on traditional farming has continuously increased. More than 11% of the world’s total land area is now used for crop production creating environmental challenges ranging from habitat clearing to soil degradation and placing immense pressure on our planet’s resources. Furthermore as our cities expand the distances between suitable farming land and large population who consume its produce are growing; raising the impact of transportation and associated malpractices. Added to these challenges are a changing climate that is disrupting seasonal weather patterns and the lack of suitable soil in close proximity to rapidly expanding towns & cities is also the reason behind malpractices in agricultural industry.
The one solution we see to this growing problem is High-Tech Greenhouses where the growing conditions and space can be optimized and yields can significantly be increased.
